A lasting and just peace is critically important, but forcing Ukraine to essentially surrender is unacceptable, Ukrainian World Congress President Paul Grod told Fakty ICTV in an interview while commenting on peace efforts in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
“We need to take a balanced position. Ukrainians around the world fully support peace talks, but we reject any attempt to pressure Ukraine into capitulation. The plan that was initially proposed by Washington was unacceptable,” Grod said.
He added that Ukrainians abroad must influence political processes in their countries by meeting with policymakers, speaking the truth and advancing Ukraine’s interests.
“Protests are only the beginning. We need to influence political processes where we live, meet with politicians, support candidates and tell the truth,” Grod said.
The UWC President also said that such vigorous engagement helps maintain a strong international stance for Ukraine and ensures meaningful support from allies.
“We are grateful to our European partners for standing with Ukraine and offering their support,” Grod said.
