UWC President urges more support for Ukraine during UK visit

Paul Grod, President of the Ukrainian World Congress, paid an advocacy visit to the United Kingdom, meeting with high-ranking officials, diplomats, and the Ukrainian community to discuss critically important support for Ukraine.

Paul Grod’s visit started with a meeting with Stephen Doughty, the UK Shadow Minister for Europe and North America and Member of the UK Parliament. Anna Dezyk, Deputy Chair of the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain for services to Ukrainian refugees, was also present. Mr. Doughty, a long-time friend of Ukraine who visited the country during the war, reiterated the UK Parliament’s bipartisan support for Ukraine and its path towards NATO membership.

The President of the Ukrainian World Congress attended a high-level security conference in London to discuss Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine. Specific details of the event remain undisclosed.

Paul Grod convened with officials from the Ukrainian Embassy in the United Kingdom for a key meeting.”We feel the constant support of the UWC in countering the aggressor, in particular in collecting and providing humanitarian, financial, and military support and conducting active advocacy to promote Ukraine’s national interests abroad!” the embassy wrote.

During his official visit to the United Kingdom, a key moment for Paul Grod was his engagement with the Ukrainian community. Nearly one hundred Ukrainians gathered at the Ukrainian Cultural Center, home of the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain – London Branch, on Saturday, May 18, for a meeting with UWC President Paul Grod.

Paul Grod extended special gratitude to St. Mary’s Ukrainian School in London, as well as CYM London and Plast London, for their outstanding efforts in educating young Ukrainian leaders.

During his visit to London, the UWC President also had a productive meeting with Bishop Kenneth Novakivskyi. The Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of the Holy Family of London, led by Bishop Kenneth Novakivskyi, is thriving across the United Kingdom and Ireland and actively supports Ukrainian war refugees. Paul Grod thanked the Bishop for his dedicated work and ministry.

“The support of the UK and the entire democratic world is crucial for Ukraine today. Our main messages are focused on Ukraine’s victory, Ukraine’s reconstruction, and a strong Ukrainian world,” Paul Grod addressed the Ukrainian community in London. UWC President also emphasized support for Ukraine’s path towards NATO and the EU and President Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula.
