The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) welcomes the Resolution of the United States Senate passed by unanimous consent on 3 October 2018 commemorating the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor.

The Resolution recognizes the findings of the 1988 U.S. Commission on the Ukraine Famine that expressly states “Joseph Stalin and those around him committed genocide against the Ukrainians in 1932-33.”

The Resolution, S. Res. 435, was sponsored by the Co-Chairs of the Senate Ukraine Caucus – Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) and Richard Durbin (D-IL).

“The Ukrainian World Congress is very grateful to the Senate of the United States for this historic resolution, congratulates the Ukrainian diaspora in the United States led by the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America on this milestone in Holodomor recognition and urges the U.S. House of Representatives to adopt similar recognition in honour of the victims of the Holodomor,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
