UWC welcomes Ukraine’s firm action in the fight against corruption

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) expresses serious concern over recent reports of corruption risks in Ukraine’s strategic energy sector linked to the former leadership of the state-owned company Energoatom.

We welcome the clear and principled response of Ukraine’s leadership, the political opposition, civil society and the media, as well as the professional conduct of the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). These efforts underscore that civil engagement and institutional transparency remain the foundations of democracy, strengthening trust in the Ukrainian state both domestically and internationally.

“Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies are working, and when they uncover wrongdoing, the state responds swiftly and decisively. This demonstrates the strength of Ukraine’s democratic institutions and underscores that effective anti-corruption efforts are essential for building a truly democratic state,” said UWC President Paul Grod.

The Ukrainian World Congress calls on all branches of government, political parties, civil society, and media to remain vigilant and united in this effort. Together, we must ensure that corruption is never exploited as a tool for Russian propaganda and disinformation aimed at weakening critical international support for Ukraine. Ukraine’s democratic institutions have shown their ability to act decisively and lawfully, and UWC is confident in their capacity to overcome these challenges and lead Ukraine toward a stronger, fairer, and truly Euro-Atlantic future.
