Irene Jarosewich

Irene Jarosewich is the World Federation of Ukrainian Women’s Organization Main Representative to the UN Department of Global Communications/Civil Society Unit (WFUWO UN DGC/CSU). She is the former editor-in-chief of the Ukrainian-language newspaper Svoboda, as well as former senior editor with the newspaper The Ukrainian Weekly. In the early 1990s, Ms. Jarosewich managed foreign media relations for RUKH The Popular Movement of Ukraine. In the mid-1990s, she served as the director of public relations for Ukraine’s AT&T subsidiary, UTEL. She was the first journalist to be accredited from an independent Ukraine by the U.S. Department of State Foreign Media Center representing the newspaper Holos Ukrainy.  She and her husband, Aleksandr Burakovskiy, live in New Jersey.
