Snapshot of activities


Nationally we have had successful exhibition launches, openings and viewings. Media has been good with radio, TV and newspaper coverage. We have been working with Fairfax and News Ltd in ensuring national publishing of international articles. Some local information has been printed. General community awareness has been raised.

Overall Exhibition is attracting great attention viewing of video Heart of Chornobyl very good. Has been a call on reprint of teaching tool –magazine in Schools –


Canberra launch went extremely well, good media presence. Representatives from Catholic Orthodox, Anglican, and Buddhist, Jewish and Muslim faith participated Message from Governor General.

We presented Sen. Humphries who launched the exhibition with a resolution for him. Senate seeking Australian Governmentt support in range of issues including financial and made reference to President Yushchenko’s plea for $1.1.b international aid to fix the problem.


Melbourne Opening and week long exhibition at Parliament House. Opening went well last night with a range of people from community and outside the community. Minister Theophanous opened the exhibition. Speakers Stefan Romaniw , John Paull University of Tasmania Ross Meranovich ACCRF, Bob Bott Rotary, Serhij Blohub, Minister Theophanous Michael Moravski, Maru Jarockyj creator of Chornobyl Madonna presented a copy to Minister and also Meds Skeens via John Paull.


Perth is also going well and the exhibition attracting media attention. Message from President Yushensko to the community will be read. Committee has put together a strong program which is attracting attention.


Adelaide Church service was very successful approx 400 people. Attorney General Atkinson, Archbishop Wilson and Dr Nowasilsky spoke.Good media coverage on Chornobyl Issue.
