Deputy PM: More than 1,500 Ukrainian civilians in Russian captivity

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk revealed that more than 1,500 civilians are in Russian captivity. Among them, in particular, journalists, local authorities and volunteers.

Ms Vereshchuk said that the enemy confirmed only 120 prisoners through the International Committee of the Red Cross.

“We have an official response from the International Committee with the names, surnames and patronymics of those civilians confirmed by Russia, and we are now trying our best to free them, because they cannot be exchanged for military prisoners.. And so we are looking for international mechanisms and calling for the release of our mayors, journalists and volunteers who are now illegally in Russian prisons.” Ms Vereshchuk said.
