“Fight Like a Ukrainian”: Ukrainian World Congress launches global campaign to support frontline combat medics

KYIV/TORONTO — March 10, 2026

On March 10, 2026, the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) launched the Fight Like a Ukrainian initiative, a global campaign providing Ukraine’s frontline medics with tactical training, specialized kits, and critical battlefield equipment.

Since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, Ukraine has faced sustained high-intensity combat, where survival depends on medics having the right training and equipment needed to respond within minutes.

“Ukrainian defenders continue to show extraordinary courage every day,” said Paul Grod, President of the Ukrainian World Congress. “Fight Like a Ukrainian allows the global Ukrainian community and our friends around the world to unite in supporting those who save lives on the battlefield.”

Grod emphasized that the campaign reflects the unity and determination of Ukrainians worldwide. “The global Ukrainian community has demonstrated remarkable solidarity. Ukrainians and friends of Ukraine across continents have come together to support those defending freedom. Initiatives like Fight Like a Ukrainian show what we can accomplish when our global community acts with unity, purpose, and resolve.”

The initiative is being led in partnership with Saint Javelin, the medical service teams of the 1st Corps of the Ukrainian National Guard Azov, the 2nd Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine Khartiia, and the ULF medical service of the 108th Separate DaVinci’s Wolves Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This collaboration ensures that lifesaving support reaches experienced medical teams operating in some of the most demanding frontline conditions.

“On the battlefield, a wounded soldier’s survival often depends not only on the courage of the fighter, but also on how quickly and professionally the medical support system responds,” said Yaroslav Holovchenko, Head of Fundraising and Supply Department, Azov Brigade.

“That is why initiatives such as the Fight Like a Ukrainian campaign, launched by the Ukrainian World Congress, are so important for our units.

For the Azov Brigade, it is critical that our medics are well-trained, properly equipped, and able to act quickly in the most difficult combat conditions. The Fight Like a Ukrainian campaign helps create stable support for frontline medical teams, which means more lives saved.

We deeply value the support of Ukrainians and friends of Ukraine around the world. When the global Ukrainian community unites together with the Ukrainian World Congress, that support translates into real capabilities for our medics to save lives.”

“On the battlefield, minutes decide everything. Thanks to the support of the Ukrainian World Congress and the global Ukrainian community, we can train more soldiers and medics in tactical medicine, equip units with modern medical tools, and be ready to save lives in the most difficult conditions”, said Major Bohdan Korylchuk, Head of the Medical Support Section
2nd Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine Khartiia.

“For us on the frontline, this is not just assistance, it is a chance for a wounded soldier to receive a second birthday and return home to his family. When Ukrainians around the world unite around initiatives like this, we feel that we are not standing alone in this fight.”

Through recurring monthly contributions, the campaign will support:

  • Tactical medical training programs at brigade and corps levels
  • Specialized training kits with wound simulators and instructional materials
  • Individual First Aid Kits (IFAKs) for frontline defenders
  • Combat Medic Trauma Packs for treating multiple casualties
  • Portable medical systems, including oxygen generators, ventilatory support devices, ultrasound units, and blood warmers
  • Evacuation and stabilization equipment used during battlefield extraction
  • Maintenance, consumables, and spare parts required to keep lifesaving equipment operational

Unlike one-time fundraising drives, Fight Like a Ukrainian focuses on building stable, predictable recurring support. Medical teams can then plan training cycles, maintain equipment, and respond immediately when emergencies occur.

“Medical teams operate every day of the year,” Grod added. “Predictable support means that when the next call for help comes, medics are trained, equipped, and ready to save lives.”
