The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) expresses its profound sorrow at the passing of Myron Spolsky, Head of Plast Global, lifelong community leader, entrepreneur, and an unwavering advocate for Ukraine.
Born in Toronto, Canada, Myron was a proud member of the Ukrainian diaspora and a lifelong Plast member whose leadership and vision transcended borders. In the late 1980s, he moved to Ukraine at a time of historic transformation, dedicating himself to helping build a new, independent state. As one of the first Canadian entrepreneurs in Ukraine, he founded several successful enterprises, including Vesuvio Pizza, always guided by a sense of purpose, community, and love for Ukraine.
As Head of Plast Global, Myron inspired generations of Ukrainian youth to live by the values of service, patriotism, and leadership. His efforts to unite the global Plast movement strengthened Ukrainian identity and nurtured civic responsibility among young Ukrainians worldwide. Through his example, he demonstrated that leadership means service, and that every act of generosity, large or small, contributes to the greater good.
Myron’s collaboration with the Ukrainian World Congress was marked by integrity, generosity, and unwavering commitment to the Ukrainian cause. UWC President Paul Grod, who had known Myron for more than two decades, recalled one of his fondest memories from the 2004 Election Observer Mission in Ukraine, when Myron, as the owner of Vesuvio’s Pizza, generously donated pizzas every night to the team of UWC volunteers defending Ukraine’s democracy. That simple gesture, President Grod noted, spoke volumes about Myron’s character: always giving, always supporting, always standing for what is right.
Myron’s entire life was a testament to selfless service to the Ukrainian cause. His leadership, generosity, and friendship left a deep mark on all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he inspired, in the causes he championed, and in the community he helped build.
We are eternally grateful for his life of service.
He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Вічная пам’ять.
