The Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) is preparing to commemorate the fourth year of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The federation is organizing a series of memorial events, rallies, and film screenings in cities across Australia.
“The human cost of Russia’s invasion continues to be felt deeply by Ukrainians and Australian-Ukrainian families across Australia,” AFUO said in a statement.
The commemorations will begin on Feb. 12 with an address by Ukraine’s Ambassador to Australia, Vasyl Myroshnychenko, at the National Press Club in Canberra. Details about events planned nationwide are available online.
AFUO is also running a “Warmth for Ukraine” fundraiser in support of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ appeal, backed by the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), to provide urgent energy assistance.
“Four years on, Ukrainians are still enduring daily missile strikes, air-raid sirens, blackouts and devastating loss. For Ukrainians in Australia, Russia’s invasion is never distant. It is the pain of knowing your country is resisting unrelenting Russian aggression,” AFUO said.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian World Congress, together with its member organizations and partners worldwide, has launched a global campaign titled “Stand With Ukraine: Protect Future Generations” to mark the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion.
Events leading up to Feb. 24 can be registered on the special interactive map at https://uaworldmap.ukrainianworldcongress.org/, where materials for global events are also available.
