A square named after renowned Ukrainian poet and writer Lesya Ukrainka has officially opened in the French city of Grenoble, the Embassy of Ukraine in France announced.
The new public space, located at the corner of Jean Perrot Avenue and Rue Moyrand, has become a symbol of Ukrainian solidarity, dignity, and freedom.
“On Feb. 5, a new Ukrainian landmark appeared on the map of France […] It will serve as a gathering place for Ukrainian events and a reminder of France’s solidarity with the Ukrainian people and the values we share,” the embassy said.

In addition, representatives of France and Ukraine signed a cooperation declaration between Grenoble and the Ukrainian city of Chernivtsi.
The document was signed by Grenoble Mayor Éric Piolle, Chernivtsi Deputy Mayor Yevhen Makhovnyk, and Kostiantyn Ablazov, Minister-Counselor at the Embassy of Ukraine in France.
“Another bridge of Franco-Ukrainian solidarity has been built, and we will gladly help ensure that this partnership is filled with meaningful cooperation,” the embassy said.
