Petretskyi: Strength of Ukrainian unity shall overcome Russian aggression

When the Ukrainian people stand united, no enemy can defeat them. It is through this unity that Ukrainians have endured historical trials and preserved their independence and national identity.

This was stated by Mykola-Myroslav Petretskyi, Vice President of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) for Eastern Europe, head of the Union of Ukrainians of Romania (UUR), and member of the Romanian Parliament.

In doing so, he called on Ukrainians around the world, as well as friends of Ukraine, to join in signing the Global Ukrainians’ Declaration of Unity.

“The Russian aggressor is trying to destroy the Ukrainian people, but we must unite even more,” Petretskyi said. “In these difficult times, it is more important than ever for Ukrainians to stand side by side, united.”

He continued: “I am confident that just as Ukrainians have remained united until now, we will continue to stand united in the future.”.

Petretskyi mentioned the example of the UUR, which brings together Ukrainians across Romania: over 120 local organizations, 13 regional branches, and more than 30,000 members.

“It is through unity that we are able to have our representatives, preserve our schools, our culture, and our language. That is why I call on everyone to unite and protect what is most important — our culture, our language, our families, and our unity,” he said.

The Declaration of Unity represents a shared position and a public commitment by Ukrainian civic organizations outside Ukraine to act together in support of Ukraine’s victory, reconstruction, and the strengthening of the global Ukrainian community. The document unifies the voice of the diaspora and demonstrates broad international support for Ukraine to global partners.

The declaration is open for signature by civic organizations, associations, unions, cultural and educational institutions, religious communities, initiative groups, and other entities founded by Ukrainians or people of Ukrainian descent.

Both UWC member organizations and partner organizations that share the declaration’s goals and work in support of Ukraine are eligible to sign.

The declaration can be signed via the following link.
