Analysts from the DeepState monitoring project have released updated information on the advance of Russian troops in Ukraine.
“From Nov. 12 2022 (108,651 square kilometers occupied then) to today (114,493 square kilometers), the enemy has captured 5,842 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory. This amounts to 0.96781 percent of the total area of the Ukrainian state within its internationally recognized borders,” DeepState reported.
According to the analysts, Russia achieved its most significant territorial gains in the first days of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
However, thanks to Ukraine’s counteroffensives in the north of the country as well as in the eastern Kharkiv and southern Kherson regions, much of the occupied territory was liberated.
Offensive operations continue, but with only limited success to date.
DeepState also expressed hope that U.S. partners are taking these figures into account ahead of potential peace negotiations on Russia’s war against Ukraine.
