The Telegraph: Poles prepare for possible Russian aggression

More and more civilians in Poland are taking survival courses, firearms training, and military drills in preparation for a potential Russian attack, reports the London-based tabloid The Telegraph.

Poland is considered one of the European countries most likely to face the frontline in the event of a Russian assault on NATO member states. The government plans to expand basic military training for adults and allocate around 4.5 percent of gross domestic product – the equivalent to a country’s economic output – to defense in 2025.

The number of Poles joining organizations that teach survival skills, shooting, and tactical training is also growing. This includes the Polish Survival Network, shooting clubs, and volunteer groups.

Piotr Churillo, founder of the Polish Survival Network, said tens of thousands of people have already joined the community, practising responses to combat situations and learning guerrilla and defensive skills.

Shooting instructors have reported a sharp increase in demand for training following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and recent drone incidents on Polish territory.

Some organizations also offer self-defense and first-aid courses for teenagers and young adults.
