Summer Institute 2024 hosted in Ukraine

The Summer Institute 2024, a program fostering experience exchange between Ukrainian and Canadian teachers, has successfully concluded, shared Lyuba Lyubchyk, Chair of the UWC’s International Educational Coordinating Council (IECC). The event was held in Lviv and Mukachevo.

“The success of any project is undoubtedly due to the people who drive and sustain it. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the dedicated Ukrainian and Canadian educators who continue to unite around the powerful Canadian-Ukrainian initiative, the Summer Institute – Nadia Luciw, Director of the Institute for the Professional Development of Teachers (Canada) and former Chair of the IECC (1998-2008); Andrii Zakaliuk, Head of the Education Office of Lviv City Council; Oksana Wynnyckyj-Yusypovych, former Chair of the IECC (2008-2018); and Kateryna Horokhovska, former Head of the Education Department of Lviv City Council (2011-2013).

The ongoing success of the Canadian-Ukrainian educational project, the Summer Institute, is sustained by the daily efforts, enthusiasm, and dedication of its team. They are instrumental in upholding the project’s activities and facilitating collaboration among education professionals from various regions of Ukraine and Canada.

Heartfelt respect and gratitude to our Canadian counterparts – Christine Zeltway, Orest Haras, Irene Haras, Sophia Berezowsky, Bohdan Kolos, Borislav Bilash, and Iryna Perehinets – who came to Ukraine during the full-scale Russian invasion. In the midst of this brutal Russian-Ukrainian war, they joined Ukrainian educators to steadfastly support the educational front and move us closer to our longed-for victory,” wrote Lyuba Lyubchyk.

“Today, more than ever, it is crucial to unite our opportunities and resources for Ukraine – for the Ukrainian cause, Ukrainian education, and Ukrainian victory,” concluded the UWC’s IECC Chair.
