Ukrainian diaspora demands immediate release of Nadiya Savchenko

On 26 January 2015, the first day of its winter session, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) officially confirmed Ukraine’s Member of Parliament Nadiya Savchenko as a member of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE.

Rallies and wide spread social media campaigns throughout the world, organized to coincide with the PACE session, voiced strong support for Nadiya Savchenko’s release.

“The millions-strong Ukrainian diaspora led by the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) demands that Russian governing authorities immediately release Ukraine’s Member of Parliament and PACE delegate Nadiya Savchenko as her international kidnapping and imprisonment violate her fundamental rights and freedoms,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
