Ukrainians in Argentina call on President Milei to join Peace Summit

The Ukrainian Cultural Society “PROSVITA” has called on Argentine President Javier Milei to participate in the Peace Summit, which will take place on June 15-16 in Switzerland. The community sent a corresponding appeal to the country’s leader.

“Your participation in the Peace Summit for Ukraine in Bürgenstock will be a milestone in the history of relations between Argentina and Ukraine, allowing the free world to firmly move towards peace and put an end to this brutal Russian invasion,” the letter said.

Recently, several Argentine media outlets reported, citing sources, that Milei has decided to participate in the meeting at the highest level. However, there has been no official confirmation from either Argentina or Ukraine.

“We express deep gratitude for the intention to participate in the aforementioned conference and call on heads of states and governments attending the summit to make every effort to achieve a just peace for Ukraine,” concludes the Ukrainian community in their appeal.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he invited Argentine President Javier Milei to the Peace Summit.

In an exclusive material for the UWC, Dr. Jeremiah M. Taurydzkyj, a representative of the Ukrainian Central Representation of Argentina, lawyer, journalist, publicist, translator, editor, and activist, explained why strong involvement from Latin America, particularly Argentina, at the upcoming Global Peace Summit in June, could significantly tilt the scales in favor of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) called on Ukrainian communities worldwide to appeal to their governments and leaders with a proposal to participate in this meeting. The Global Peace Summit is scheduled to take place on June 15-16, 2024, at the Bürgenstock resort near the city of Lucerne, Switzerland.
