Ukrainians in Argentina present book stand at Buenos Aires International Book Fair

The 49th Buenos Aires International Book Fair hosted a special Ukraine Day, as announced by María Zinko, Vice President of the Ukrainian Central Representation in Argentina.

“This year, Ukraine Day took place on Sunday, May 11. It’s a unique event dedicated to Ukrainian culture, where visitors can enjoy live music, folk songs, dances, and experience the spirit of unity and support for Ukraine,” Zinko said.

At the fair, a Ukrainian book stand was presented, showcasing literature, cultural materials and souvenirs for purchase.

“The booth was organized by the Ukrainian Central Representation in Argentina, the Society of Argentine-Ukrainian University Graduates, and the Embassy of Ukraine in Argentina,” she said.

During the event, Ukraine’s Culture Minister, Mykola Tochytskyi, addressed attendees, emphasizing that “our struggle is not only for survival, but for our identity, culture, and the right to exist on the world map.”

In turn, the Ukrainian community in Argentina noted that “the message was clear in every performance, every round of applause, every gesture: Ukrainian culture will not be silenced.”

The Buenos Aires International Book Fair is one of the world’s largest and most prestigious literary events. This year, it ran from April 24 to May 12 at the La Rural exhibition center.

The event spans 45,000 square meters and features around 1,500 exhibitors from over 40 countries. Ukraine has had a presence at this event for 37 consecutive years.
