Ukrainians in Germany gathered this week to celebrate the dynamism of storytelling at the 28th International Festival of Films, Television, and Radio Programs for Children and Youth, “Golden Chick,” took place on Nov. 14-15 at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Erfurt, Germany, organized with the support of the Ukrainian community of Thuringia.
Over two days, visitors stepped into a world that is shaped by Ukrainian voices. They screened competition films and documentaries, joined acting and stunt masterclasses, learned the delicate art of sand animation, and met “Dovbush” film director Oles Sanin.
All screenings were presented in Ukrainian with German subtitles.
The festival’s opening day featured a formal ceremony and concert program, as well as the documentary The Ukrainian Community of Thuringia – 10 Years by director Valentyn Myslyvyi and the feature film Dovbush by Oles Sanin. Following the screenings, guests had the opportunity to mingle during a reception.
The second day focused on the competition program, showcasing short films, animated works, and documentaries, including The Old Pencil, Battle for the Sun, The Guitarist, Swallow’s Love, Masyka, Wake Up, and more.
The event concluded with an awards ceremony honoring the winners and a festive closing ceremony.
