UWC calls upon Ukraine’s allies to immediately provide additional air and missile defense systems

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) appeals to all of Ukraine’s allies and peace-loving nations to urgently increase the provision of air and missile defense systems and the requisite missiles. This essential support is crucial to protect innocent civilian lives and secure Ukrainian cities against relentless Russian missile attacks.

We urge Ukrainian communities and friends of Ukraine around the world to demand that their respective governments provide the requisite military support to safeguard the skies of Ukraine against Russia’s devastating missile strikes.
Unable to defeat Ukraine on the battlefield, Russian is attacking Ukraine’s energy sector and critical infrastructure. Russia’s objectives are to destroy the Ukrainian economy, plunge ordinary Ukrainians into darkness, make Ukraine’s territory uninhabitable, and ultimately undermine the resolve of the Ukrainian people to resist Russian occupation.

According to Ukraine’s Minister of Energy, Herman Halushchenko, the recent Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector have caused far more damage than those of 2022-2023. Recent attacks have completely destroyed the Zmiivska thermal power plant in Kharkiv Oblast and the Trypilska thermal power plant in Kyiv Oblast. Additionally, the DniproHES hydroelectric power plant in Zaporizhzhia, the largest in Ukraine, has been rendered inoperative. Certain Ukrainian power producers have lost 100% of their generating capacity.

Ukraine is unable to protect its people and energy sector due to the acute shortage of missile defense systems. “Ukraine’s allies have sufficient air and missile defense resources that could be deployed to permanently or temporarily shield Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructures. Ukraine urgently needs these systems now! The cost of each delay is measured in the lives of Ukrainian civilians,” stated UWC President Paul Grod.

“We call upon our communities and friends around the world to demand that their governments intensify military support for Ukraine and that Ukraine’s allies honor their previous commitments and deliver the agreed-upon weapons and defensive equipment!” added Grod.
