UWC condemns the decision by Ukraine’s governing authorities  to suspend the signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) condemns today’s decision by Ukraine’s governing authorities to suspend the process leading to the signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement and to renew an active dialogue with the Russian Federation and other countries of the Customs Union.

This decision contravenes the Law of Ukraine “On the principles of foreign and domestic policies” and the aspirations of the Ukrainian people for European integration.

“The decision by Ukraine’s governing authorities to suspend the signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement on the eve of the Third Summit of the Eastern Partnership in Vilnius on 28-29 November 2013 and to step up their dialogue with Russia and other countries of the Customs Union, undermines the national interests of Ukraine and threatens a revival of the Soviet Union. Ukraine’s governing authorities will have to answer to the entire Ukrainian nation for this,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
