Ukrainian World Congress President Paul Grod presented honorary certificates to leading figures of the Eastern European Ukrainian community and friends of Ukraine at the Forum of Ukrainians of Eastern Europe, the first major gathering uniting representatives from thirteen countries.
The awards recognised their significant contributions to supporting Ukraine and preserving Ukrainian national identity.
Recipients included:
Poland
- Halyna Andrushkov (Uniters Foundation) — For supporting Ukraine’s defenders and children most affected by Russian aggression.
- Ivan Syrnyk (Szczecin branch of the Association of Ukrainians in Poland) — For long-term assistance to Ukraine’s defenders since 2014.
- Jakub Markowski (Head of the Dobry Brat Rehabilitation Centre) — For providing medical aid to over 500 wounded soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
- Oleksandr Bachek (Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Poland) — For years of support for the UWC, the Ukrainian community in Poland, and the preservation of Ukrainian national memory.
Moldova
- Daria Russu (Head of the “Ptashka” Ukrainian Culture Association, Moldova) — For countering Russian disinformation, developing Ukrainian-language media programs, and preserving Ukrainian culture and language in Moldova.
- Roman Russu (Head of the “Zlahoda” Ukrainian Youth Association, Moldova) — For active efforts to preserve Ukrainian culture and language in Moldova, as well as volunteer work supporting the Ukrainian people.
- Dmitrii Lecartev (Head of the National Congress of Ukrainians in Moldova (NCUM) — For contributions to developing Ukrainian community life in Moldova and strengthening Moldovan-Ukrainian relations.
Estonia
- Vira Konyk (Head of the Congress of Ukrainians of Estonia) — For many years of developing the Ukrainian community in Estonia, promoting and preserving Ukrainian culture, and strengthening Estonian-Ukrainian relations.
- Anatoly Lyutiuk (Congress of Ukrainians in Estonia) — For establishing the Ukrainian movement, founding the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, and developing the Ukrainian Cultural Centre in Estonia.
Hungary
- Lidiia Hembik (Society of Ukrainian Culture in Hungary) — For many years of dedicated work for the benefit of the Ukrainian community in Hungary.
- Nikoletta Olasz-Hartyanyi (Society of Ukrainian Culture in Hungary) — For long-term efforts to support and develop the Ukrainian community in Hungary.
Czechia
- Prague Kryivka (Czechia) — For dedicated support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Latvia
- Society for the Support of Ukraine — For supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression and aiding both the Armed Forces and civilians.
Lithuania
- Tetiana Morhun (Head of the Union of Ukrainian Women in Lithuania) — For contributions to developing the Ukrainian community in Lithuania and supporting Ukraine.
Canada
- Ivan Iwaniura — For long-term support of the Ukrainian World Congress, the Ukrainian community in Poland, and the restoration of the Ukrainian National Home in Przemyśl.
Romania
- Liuba Horvat (Union of Ukrainians of Romania) — For contributions to strengthening bilateral relations between Romania and Ukraine.
- Mykola-Myroslav Petretskyi (Head of the Union of Ukrainians of Romania) — For outstanding contributions to deepening Ukrainian-Romanian relations, strengthening partnership and solidarity, and tireless work in support of Ukraine.
At the same time, the Association of Ukrainians in Poland, Przemyśl branch, awarded Paul Grod an honorary certificate for partnership, openness, and contributions to the restoration and development of the Ukrainian Narodnyi Dim (National Home).
The official opening of the forum took place on Dec. 12 at the Ukrainian Narodnyi Dim in Przemyśl, Poland.
