Marta Farion, Vice President of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) and Vice President of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) for North America, met with Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States, Olha Stefanishyna, at the premiere of “Second Wind,” a film that is dedicated to five Ukrainian military servicemen.
The screening took place at a reception that was hosted by the French Embassy in Washington, D.C.
“It was an honor to be invited and meet the ambassador of France and to meet the new ambassador of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna. The event was a collaboration of the embassies of France and Ukraine,” Farion said.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss ongoing international support for Ukraine and the importance of sharing the inspiring stories of Ukrainian servicemen with a global audience.
The film highlights the courage of Ukrainian soldiers who were wounded during Russia’s war against Ukraine, lost limbs, but, equipped with prosthetics, successfully climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa.
“It is the story of courage and determination and an inspiration to never give up,” Farion said.
The assembled Ukrainian leaders and activists, and underscored the importance of uniting the Ukrainian community and diplomatic efforts to support the country during the ongoing conflict.
