Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) | New York | Volunteer Appointment
The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) represents the interests of 25 million Ukrainians in more than 85 countries and advocates for Ukraine’s sovereignty, security, democratic development, and the interests of Ukrainian communities around the world.
As an organization with consultative status at the United Nations, UWC regularly engages with international institutions, governments, and civil society partners on matters of importance to Ukraine and Ukrainians globally.
The Special Liaison to the United Nations serves as UWC’s primary volunteer contact within the United Nations community. The role helps ensure that UWC remains aware of relevant developments, informed of upcoming opportunities for engagement, and connected to stakeholders whose work aligns with UWC’s mission.
This position is ideal for an individual who is passionate about Ukraine, enjoys building relationships, and wishes to contribute their time, knowledge, and networks to advancing the work of the global Ukrainian community.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain awareness of relevant UN activities and alert UWC leadership to meetings, conferences, initiatives, and discussions that may be of interest.
- Serve as a local point of contact between UWC and members of the broader UN and international affairs community.
- Identify opportunities for engagement and help connect UWC leaders, experts, and member organizations with relevant events and stakeholders.
- Facilitate introductions to diplomats, international officials, civil society leaders, and other partners when opportunities arise.
- Provide occasional brief updates on developments, events, and emerging issues relevant to UWC’s priorities.
- Support the participation of UWC delegations at major UN-related events when appropriate.
- Help strengthen UWC’s network of relationships within the international community in New York.
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a respected and well-connected individual who is committed to Ukraine and interested in supporting international advocacy efforts through relationship-building and community engagement.
Qualified candidates will bring:
- An interest in international affairs, diplomacy, human rights, humanitarian issues, or multilateral institutions.
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
- Familiarity with the United Nations environment or related international organizations.
- Good judgment, professionalism, and discretion.
- A proactive approach and the ability to identify opportunities for engagement.
- Enthusiasm for supporting the mission of the Ukrainian World Congress.
Requirements
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Ukrainian language skills are an asset.
- Residence in or near New York City.
- Ability to attend selected UN-related events and meetings from time to time.
- Existing contacts or experience within international, diplomatic, academic, nonprofit, or policy communities are desirable.
- Commitment to the values and mission of the Ukrainian World Congress.
