Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto has filed a lawsuit against Alessandro Orsini, a well-known pro-Russian propagandist and one of the most vocal public Kremlin apologists in Italy.
The news was shared by Oles Horodetskyy, leader of the Christian Association of Ukrainians in Italy,
“Finally! Great news! Italy’s Defense Minister Guido Crosetto has sued one of the Kremlin’s most active mouthpieces in Italy — the loudmouth and liar Alessandro Orsini. Applause!” Horodetskyi wrote.
Crosetto accused Orsini of spreading false information and manipulative narratives that he believes pose a threat to Italy’s national security and damage its international reputation.
Orsini, an Italian sociologist, professor, and author, is a vocal critic of Western support for Ukraine. According to Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD), he frequently promotes narratives that align with Russian propaganda.
“In his articles and social media posts, Orsini pushes talking points that serve the Kremlin’s agenda. He harshly criticizes the Ukrainian government and its Western allies, claiming that military aid only fuels the conflict,” the CCD said.
The Center also noted that Orsini often echoes a familiar Kremlin narrative — portraying Russia as an unstoppable military force.
