On Tuesday, a Ukrainian rescue team pulled a 30-year-old woman from the rubble where she had spent eight days and 12 hours after the earthquake that has taken more than 37,700 lives in Turkey and Syria.
“The first life saved in Turkey by our team!” Serhiy Kruk, Ukraine’s State Emergencies Service head, wrote on Facebook. “On the 9th day after the terrible earthquake in Turkey, our rescuers helped to find and free from the rubble a woman who survived the collapse of a residential building.”
According to Kruk, the team of the State Emergencies Service was on a search and rescue mission in one of the most challenging directions – sector R in the city of Antakya, Hatay Province.
