From Kyiv to Mexico City: photo exhibition honors the courage and and culture of Ukrainian women in wartime

In the heart of Mexico City, far from the frontlines, Ukrainians are telling the world a story of strength, survival, and unbroken spirit.

The Ukrainian community’s Casa de Ucrania on Aug. 7 unveiled a powerful photo exhibition titled “The Strength of a Nation: Women Between War and Exile”.

It celebrates the resilience of Ukrainian women who endure Russia’s war of displacement.

The project seeks to preserve Ukrainian culture and female identity even far from home. The exhibition was conceived by Nataliia Iman, with photography by Dana Martens.

Each portrait tells the story of a woman who carries her people’s traditions, language, songs, and memories. The exhibition responds to contemporary challenges and serves as a reminder that the beauty and strength of Ukrainian women endure even in exile.

The project’s goal is to showcase to the world the cultural value and resilience of Ukrainian women.

“A Ukrainian woman is strength, tradition, and light shining even in the darkest times,” the organizers said.
