Paul Grod: We are working on the front lines in support of Ukraine

The role of the global Ukrainian community in the fight for Ukraine’s victory and concrete steps the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) is taking to ensure victory – UWC President Paul Grod discussed these and many other issues with Ukrainian Independent Radio in Chicago, IL, on the eve of a meeting with the Ukrainian community in Chicago on 19 May. 

“Our first role is to help Ukraine win, to ensure that we do so through our advocacy, information, and cultural policies so that we can maintain the strong support of civil society in the United States, Western countries, and every country that exists today,” said Paul Grod. According to the UWC President, the global Ukrainian community is at the forefront of supporting the Ukrainian state. Through such key support projects as Unite With Ukraine and Energize Ukraine, the UWC cooperates with the Ukrainian authorities, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and governmental and community structures.  

The UWC President also addressed how life has changed for Ukrainian communities worldwide since the full-blown invasion. Paul Grod thanked all Ukrainian communities that have been highly organized in helping refugees since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Over the past year, Chicago alone has sheltered about 30,000 internally displaced persons from Ukraine.
