In Mariupol, Donetsk Oblast, Russian occupiers have dismantled the Monument to the Victims of Holodomor – the manmade famine of 1932-33, which claimed the lives of millions of Ukrainians.
The Monument to the Victims of Holodomor was made of granite and was erected in 2004 near the Drama theater – the same theater that was sheltering around a thousand residents from Russians bombings on 16 Mar. 2022.
The occupiers said that the granite would be processed into building materials.
Vandalism in Mariupol is another piece of evidence that the goal of the invaders is not only to expand the borders of their cannibalistic empire. They seek to destroy everything related to Ukrainianness: our culture, identity, and national memory.
