The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) encourages the Ukrainian diaspora and friends of Ukraine to show support for the Ukrainian people by wearing Ukrainian embroidery on 17 May 2018, International Vyshyvanka Day.
Vyshyvanka Day, dedicated to Ukrainian national culture and traditions, was initiated in Ukraine in 2006. In 2014, it became an international movement inviting people of other cultures to join Ukrainians around the world.
“The Ukrainian World Congress calls upon the entire Ukrainian diaspora and friends of Ukraine to wear Ukrainian embroidery on 17 May 2018 and show solidarity with the people of Ukraine, which since 2014 continues to bravely stand in the face of Russian aggression while building a truly European, reformed and independent Ukraine,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
