Ukrainians in Paris take to the streets in support of Ukraine

On July 13, the Union of Ukrainians in France held a march through Paris for recognizing Russia as a terrorist state. The event continued a series of protest actions in the French capital in support of the Ukrainian people.

On the eve of Bastille Day, about 350 people, including also non-Ukrainian Parisiens and representatives of the Paris City Hall, gathered at Place de La Sorbonne and then marched to Place du Panthéon, chanting “Russia is a terrorist” and “Sanctions against Russia.” They also mentioned the MH17 downing on July 17, 2014, and demanded to prevent the Holodomor 2022, being organized by Putin, and arm Ukraine.

The Union of Ukrainians in France was founded in 1949 by Ukrainians liberated from Nazi extermination camps and forced labor camps in Germany and Austria. The UUF founders also include Ukrainians who fought in the Polish army of Gen. Anders in the Battle of Monte Cassino, Ukrainians who resided in France before WWII and served in the French Foreign Legion, and members of Ukrainian detachments of the French Resistance.
