On 21 June 2018, Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) First Vice President Jaroszlava Hartyanyi addressed the II Local Development Forum Euroregion Carpathians-Ukraine held in Truskavets, Ukraine, with over 400 participants from Ukraine, Poland, Hungary and Romania who gathered to discuss and develop new ideas to further the development of the Carpathian region.
As a panelist during the session “Continued development of tourism in the Carpathians. From vision to practical implementation,” the UWC First Vice President noted that the economic growth of Ukraine is also an active weapon in the fight against Russian aggression, and she focused attention on the activities of the Ukrainian diaspora led by the UWC in furthering the economic development of Ukraine. She also emphasized the importance of tourism to Ukraine which promotes the Ukrainian cultural heritage and, by enhancing the positive image of Ukraine, contributes to its economic development. In this context, Jaroszlava Hartyanyi shared her experience with the launch of ethnographic tours from Hungary to Ukraine titled “Share your love for Ukraine with the country in which you live”. Based on the first such tour to Ukraine in October 2017, Hungarian television produced and aired in Hungary three documentary films about Ternopil and Lviv. In May 2018, the second ethnographic tour to Ukraine took place. In addition, Jaroszlava Hartyanyi presented analyses conducted by European state programs for the development and support of tourism.
Participants of the Forum held 21-23 June 2018 included parliamentarians, government officials, Polish provincial marshalls, representatives of various committees of the Parliament of Ukraine, diplomats, oblast leaders, representatives of local self-government, and also members of non-governmental organizations, international foundations and programs.
“I anticipate, that the II Local Development Forum Euroregion Carpathians-Ukraine will be another step in the continued practical development of the Carpathian region,” stated UWC First Vice President Jaroszlava Hartyanyi.
