UWC President Addresses Commemoration in Montreal Marking the Anniversary of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army

UKRAINIAN WORLD CONGRESS PRESIDENT ADDRESSES COMMEMORATION IN MONTREAL MARKING THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE FORMATION OF THE UKRAINIAN INSURGENT ARMY

On October 16, 2011, Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij delivered a speech during a commemoration in Montreal of the 69th anniversary of the formation of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army.

Eugene Czolij recognized the veterans of all Ukrainian military formations who fought for Ukraine’s independence.  He focused, in particular, on the circumstances which led to the Ukrainian Insurgent Army’s  creation and the unique characteristics of its warfare against Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia.

In conclusion, Eugene Czolij highlighted the recent troubling events in Ukraine and emphasized the need for a concerted effort in defence of its statehood and fundamental principles of democracy in Ukraine.
