UWC President participates in Council of Ukrainian Credit Unions of Canada Annual General Meeting
On 7 November 2013, Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij represented the UWC at the Annual General Meeting of the Council of Ukrainian Credit Unions of Canada that was held in Toronto, Canada, with the participation of 35 delegates and guests, including the President of the Ukrainian National Credit Union Association, Bohdan Kurczak.
Eugene Czolij recognized the Council of Ukrainian Credit Unions of Canada and its President Olya Sheweli for the coordination of Ukrainian credit union activities, and expressed gratitude for their financial support of the UWC and various community projects. In addition, the UWC President familiarized the participants with the main activities of the UWC, including the defense of human and national rights of Ukrainians, the development of Ukrainian community life in the diaspora and the Euro‑integration, democratization and Ukrainization of Ukraine. Emphasizing the importance of UWC’s mission to strengthen the global Ukrainian community and to promote Ukrainian interests, Eugene Czolij called for the continued generosity of Ukrainian credit unions.

The UWC is the international coordinating body for Ukrainian communities in the diaspora representing the interests of over 20 million Ukrainians. The UWC has member organizations in 33 countries and ties with Ukrainians in 14 additional countries. Founded in 1967 as a non-profit corporation, the UWC was recognized in 2003 by the United Nations Economic and Social Council as a non-governmental organization (NGO) with special consultative status.
