UWC welcomes European Commission proposals on Association Agreement

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) welcomes the adoption on 15 May 2013 by the European Commission of proposals for decision by the European Council on the signing and provisional application of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, including its Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area.

By doing so, the European Union (EU) took the necessary preparatory step in order to be technically ready for the signing of the Association Agreement at the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius in six months if Ukraine’s governing authorities create the necessary political circumstances (including, follow-up actions from the October 2012 Parliamentary elections and addressing the cases of selective justice).

The UWC encourages the EU and its member states to continue the process of Ukraine’s Euro‑integration,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij. “The UWC also calls upon Ukraine’s governing authorities and opposition to comply with the requirements of the EU to enable the signing of the EU‑Ukraine Association Agreement during the Third Summit of the Eastern Partnership member countries on 28-29 November 2013 in Vilnius.”
