Allegation of US congresswoman against Yermak may complicate weapons deliveries regardless of veracity

According to Head of the Anti-Corruption Center Vitaly Shabunin, allegations against Head of the President’s Administration Andriy Yermak from a Ukrainian-born US congress person may interfere with weapons supplies, regardless of the veracity of the charges.  Congresswoman Viktoria Spartz, a member of the Tea Party Republican faction, accused Mr Yermak of malfeasance and called for his resignation.

“Of all the accusations of the congresswoman, the strongest are: the blocked contests in SAP and NABU, as well as Tatarov,” he emphasized.

According to the head of the Central Committee, the best way to stop such attacks in the future is to remove real claims: to appoint the winner of the competition as the head of the SAP; unblock the competition at NABU; release Tatarov, a suspect in a corruption crime.

The issue of completing the competition for the post of the head of the SAP, which has been going on for two years and requires only the final meeting of the commission, which must approve its own evaluation results, was one of the important issues in diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the United States on the eve of the Russian invasion.

The appointment of an anti-corruption prosecutor by the end of July is also one of the conditions for Ukraine to retain its EU candidate status.
