In Memory of Oleh Romaniw, former Vice President of the Ukrainian World Congress

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) expresses deep sorrow and condolences on the death on 7 March 2016 in Winnipeg, Canada, of former Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) Vice President and former Ukrainian Canadian Congress President (1992-1998) Oleh Romaniw.

The passing of Oleh Romaniw is a painful loss for his family, wife Irene, daughter Martha and three grandchildren Sebastian, Madelynne and Nathaniel, the Ukrainian community in Canada and the entire Ukrainian diaspora. Oleh Romaniw was a great patriot, well known Ukrainian community activist, who lived his life with dignity, devoting himself to his spiritual homeland Ukraine and the development of Ukrainian community life in Canada and the world.

For exemplary leadership in community development, Oleh Romaniw was awarded the Shevchenko Medal, the highest form of recognition granted by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress.

The UWC leadership and membership shares the deep pain of this irreparable loss and prays for the soul of the late Oleh Romaniw.
