Russia’s air strikes turn ineffective: Ukrainians are even less prone to territorial concessions than seven months ago

If Putin thought that massively firing missiles and kamikaze drones onto Ukrainian civil infrastructure would make Ukrainian more pliable in territorial issues, he was mistaken. Once again.

An overwhelming majority of respondents (85%) in a recent opinion poll by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) said any territorial concessions are unacceptable – under no circumstances, “even if because of this the war will last longer and there will be threats to the preservation of independence.” As few as eight percent were ready to give up some of Ukraine’s territories as soon as possible to achieve peace and preserve independence.

In May, 82% of respondents found territorial concessions unacceptable, and 10% said Ukraine could give up some of its territories to achieve peace. That is, if Russia’s air strikes did have an effect, it was not what Putin had expected.
