“UWC: 30 Under 30” youth initiative shortlist reveal will take place on August 19th

On August 19th, 2021, the names of 30 finalists of the youth initiative “UWC: 30 Under 30” will be announced during a live stream on the Facebook page of the Ukrainian World Congress (registration: https://bit.ly/3hR4vfk). In a short time, the expert committee received over 100 applications from 24 countries around the world.

“UWC: 30 under 30” is not a competition or a race. It is the first global initiative created ahead of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence to get to know young leaders of the Ukrainian diaspora under 30 years of age.

Among our nominees are organizers of the Ukrainian art workshops, musicians and teachers who seek to preserve and disseminate Ukrainian cultural traditions and language, initiators of information campaigns in support of Ukrainian political prisoners, and many others. The youngest is just 13 years old. Some have lived in the diaspora their whole lives, while others became a part of it only 5 years ago.

The requirements for participants include: age up to 30 years (as of August 24, 2021), Ukrainian roots, permanent residence outside Ukraine (at least 2 years). Nominees must be active, enterprising, dynamic, creative, energetic, and create a positive image of Ukraine, the Ukrainian community or the Ukrainian people.

“This year we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the restoration of Ukraine’s independence. A dream for which our people have fought for decades. Today a new generation of free Ukraine born since 1991 has emerged. We call them Generation Independence and the future is theirs. They are young enterprising, creative, dedicated and talented leaders. They tell the world about Ukraine and Ukrainians, develop our communities and reach success in their countries,” President Paul Grod, Chairman of the “UWC: 30 Under 30” Expert Committee, said in his video statement.
