Ukraine will hold another “Crimean Platform” summit on August 23

Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova announced that the annual summit of the Crimean Platform initiative is still expected to take place on August 23. The Crimean Platform initiative was started by Ukrainian President Zelenskyy as a way to put diplomatic pressure on Russia over its annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

The first summit was held on August 23, 2021 and future plans were unknown until recent comments by Ukrainian officials. It is not clear what issues will be discussed at the summit. Last year representatives of the 47 participating countries concluded the summit by signing a resolution committed to a diplomatic resolution to the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
