Ukrainian World Congress leadership meets with President Zelenskyy

Chernivtsi, April 12, 2024. The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) delegation led by UWC President Paul Grod held an official meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The meeting took place prior to the start of the Ukrainian World Congress Summit in Bucharest.

The UWC delegation and President Zelenskyy discussed the promotion of President Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula and Ukraine’s accession to NATO and the European Union. Discussions also covered the Ukrainian diaspora’s role in securing victory and rebuilding Ukraine, and a strong global Ukrainian community abroad. 

Paul Grod outlined key initiatives of the Ukrainian World Congress to President Zelenskyy, including the Unite With Ukraine, which has raised around $60 million to support Ukrainian defenders, and the Energize Ukraine initiative to support and rebuild damaged Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

“In Chernivtsi, I met with representatives of the World Congress of Ukrainians. We discussed ways to promote international support and maintain global attention to Ukraine. It is important that all our people care about out country and its independence,” wrote President Zelenskyy.

“This meeting was highly significant, as it provided an opportunity for the UWC and the Office of the President to coordinate key priorities and plans in our collaborative efforts,” stated UWC President Paul Grod.

The UWC delegation included Stefan Romaniw, UWC First Vice President; Andriy Futey, UWC Third Vice President; Zenon Potoczny, UWC Vice President for Operations; Mykola-Myroslav Petretskyi, UWC Vice President for Eastern Europe; Roman Mykytenko, UWC Vice President for Northern Europe; and Nataliya Poshyvaylo-Towler, UWC Vice President for Oceania and Asia. Zenon Kowal represented the European Congress of Ukrainians at the meeting. The Ukrainian Brazilian Central Representation President, Vitório Sorotiuk, represented the South American region. Also participating in the high-level meeting were Executive Director of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress  Ihor Michalchyshyn and Head of the UWC Mission to Ukraine Andriy Shevchenko.
