UWC and Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation in Toronto to raise funds for Ukraine’s demining

On February 11, the first meeting of the “Непереможні, Коли Об’єднані – Invincible When United” fundraising tour organized by the Ukrainian World Congress and the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation will take place in Toronto.

The goal of the tour is to raise funds to purchase and deliver armored vehicles for safe humanitarian demining in Kherson Oblast. Due to the war, many towns and villages in Kherson have been left without electricity, gas, and water. Therefore, the need to assess the presence of mines and conduct demining is critically high.

Community meetings will be held in a “fireside chat” format, featuring a conversation with Serhiy Prytula and UWC President Paul Grod. The events will feature a short video presentation and a question-and-answer period. Discussions will revolve around the volunteer movement, supporting Ukraine’s Defense Forces, and the current situation on the frontlines of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Since the beginning of their work, 140,539 individual mines and explosives have been discovered and destroyed by demining units of specialized departments. To continue this vital demining work, the Kherson Oblast Military Administration desperately needs armored vehicles, namely the Land Rover Snatch, an armored military version of the Land Rover Defender. They are manufactured in the United Kingdom and cost approximately $55,000 USD / $75,000 CAD per vehicle after necessary repairs, additional equipment, customs clearances, and delivery costs.

Overall, six events will take place during the charity tour across North America. The first will be on February 11th in Toronto, followed by the second on February 12th in Ottawa, the third on February 14th in Montreal, the fourth on February 15th in New York, the fifth on February 16th in Philadelphia, and the sixth on February 18th in Chicago. Tickets for all events can be purchased through the provided link.
