UWC calls on G-20 to include Zelensky, raises concerns over China-Brazil Peace Plan

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) expresses its deep concern and disappointment over the exclusion of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy from the upcoming G-20 meetings in Brazil starting on November 19. As the leader of a nation enduring an unprovoked and ongoing war, President Zelenskyy’s presence and voice are crucial in any discussion regarding Ukraine’s future and the resolution of the war.

The UWC firmly believes that Ukraine must be a central participant in any dialogue concerning its own future and the strategies to bring the war to an end. Excluding President Zelenskyy from these critical discussions undermines the principles of fairness and justice that the G-20 stands for. His voice and leadership are essential to ensure that the perspectives and needs of the Ukrainian people are accurately represented and addressed.

The Ukrainian World Congress calls into question the sincerity of the China-Brazil peace plan. “How can a country that purports to support Ukraine, design a peace plan in collaboration with China, an ally of Russia, without consulting Ukraine, the clear victim of Russia’s aggression?” stated UWC President Paul Grod. “This approach raises serious concerns about the impartiality and intentions of such a plan.”

The Ukrainian World Congress calls on Brazil’s President Lula to reconsider his decision and extend an invitation to President Zelenskyy. The absence of Ukraine’s leadership in such a significant forum diminishes the credibility of the G-20 and sends a concerning message about the global commitment to justice and peace.

The UWC remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the rights of its citizens. We will continue to advocate for Ukraine’s rightful place at the table in all international forums and ensure that the voices of the global Ukrainian community are heard and respected.
