MEDIA RELEASE

UWC CALLS UPON ALL CITIZENS OF UKRAINE TO VOTE IN PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS

The Parliamentary elections in Ukraine on October 28, 2012 will be the litmus test for democracy in Ukraine.

Substantial voter participation will significantly decrease the impact of all potential infringements on the election results.

The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) emphasizes the significance of these elections which, to a great extent, will determine whether Ukraine will be an independent, democratic, Ukrainian and European state.

The UWC calls upon all citizens of Ukraine to actively participate in the Parliamentary elections on October 28, 2012 and, without falling prey to any manipulations, to vote for those individuals whose actions serve the interests of Ukraine and the entire Ukrainian nation,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.

The UWC is deploying 300 international observers from 20 countries to monitor the Parliamentary elections. The observers will monitor the electoral process in all regions of Ukraine.

The UWC is the international coordinating body for Ukrainian communities in the diaspora representing the interests of over 20 million Ukrainians. The UWC has member organizations in 33 countries and ties with Ukrainians in 14 additional countries. Founded in 1967 as a non-profit corporation, the UWC was recognized in 2003 by the United Nations Economic and Social Council as a non-governmental organization (NGO) with special consultative status.
