The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) calls attention to the introduction by the United States of America of additional sanctions, published on the web site of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, against the Russian Federation in response to its cyber attacks during the U.S. 2016 Presidential election, and joins in condemning the attempts by the Russian Federation to influence the electoral process of another sovereign state.

The UWC highlights the serious danger of similar cyber attacks by the Russian Federation, particularly during future elections in European states in 2017.

The UWC also focuses the attention of non-governmental organizations, especially those that actively promote democratic values, on the importance of strengthening their security measures, primarily for databases, web sites, social media networks and communication systems.

“The Ukrainian World Congress calls upon the international community, including non-governmental organizations, to be on heightened alert and take necessary measures to protect themselves from various cyber attacks which are being actively waged by the Russian Federation,” stated UWC President Eugene Czolij.
