UWC President meets with Ukrainian Church Hierarchs in Kyiv
On 26 August 2013 Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij met in Kyiv, Ukraine, during separate meetings with Patriarch Filaret of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate, Patriarch Sviatoslav of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and Major Archbishop Emeritus Lubomyr Husar of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
Eugene Czolij took the opportunity to brief the hierarchs about the recent X Ukrainian World Congress which took place in Lviv and thank them for their greetings.
Discussions addressed current issues, including the importance of Ukraine’s Euro-integration, as well as future cooperation between the Churches and Ukrainian communities worldwide and upcoming international events that will be spearheaded by the UWC.
Patriarch Sviatoslav expressed his gratitude for the participation of the UWC President in the blessing on 17-18 August 2013 of the Patriarchal Sobor of the Resurrection in Kyiv and his greetings delivered during the banquet. Eugene Czolij assured Patriarch Sviatoslav that he would appeal to the Ukrainian diaspora to continue its financial support of the Patriarchal Sobor to ensure its completion.
