UWC President delivers greetings on the occasion of the blessing of the Patriarchal Sobor of the Resurrection in Kyiv
On 18 August 2013 Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) President Eugene Czolij delivered greetings on the occasion of the blessing of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Patriarchal Sobor of the Resurrection and the celebrations marking the 1025th anniversary of Christianity in Ukraine.
In his remarks delivered during a banquet held following the blessing of the Patriarchal Sobor, the UWC President emphasized the important role of the Christian faith in the development of the Ukrainian nation. “On this joyous occasion, I assure the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Patriarch Sviatoslav (Shevchuk), that the Ukrainian diaspora will continue supporting your efforts in the completion of the Patriarchal Sobor,” stated Eugene Czolij.
More than 18,000 faithful from Ukraine and the diaspora attended the celebrations which took place over a two-day period on 17-18 August 2013 in Kyiv, Ukraine.
