The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) and Ukraine’s Ministry of Youth and Sports signed a Memorandum of Cooperation during the official visit of the UWC delegation to Ukraine to mark the 35th anniversary of the restoration of independence.
The document provides for joint initiatives for Ukrainian youth in Ukraine and abroad, the development of cooperation with youth organizations, and the strengthening of Ukrainian identity around the world.
UWC President Paul Grod and Ukraine’s Minister of Youth and Sports Matviy Bidnyi signed the memorandum during the meeting.
“The youth, sports, and identity sectors are key to Ukraine’s future. We must support and build up youth institutions in communities and expand government projects for Ukrainian youth around the world,” UWC President Paul Grod said.
Particular attention was paid to Ukraine’s international advocacy and countering a dangerous trend – the normalization of Russia on the global sports stage.
“Ukraine is a global nation, and we cannot allow Russia to be normalized in sports. This requires media, public, and diplomatic influence. And here, the support of Ukrainians in communities around the world is extremely important,” Minister Bidnyi said.
The minister also thanked the UWC for supporting the “Embassy of Ukrainian Meanings” initiative, which promotes the representation of Ukrainian voices and values around the world. According to him, about 2 million young Ukrainians are currently living outside Ukraine, representing a significant potential for the state.
Earlier, the UWC signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Government of Ukraine. Also, on Aug. 25, the delegation met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
