Kyiv, August 25, 2026 — The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The signing took place in Kyiv during the official visit of the UWC delegation to Ukraine marking the 35th anniversary of the restoration of independence.
The document was signed by Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi and UWC President Paul Grod.
“This memorandum is a clear action plan for the UWC and the Government of Ukraine to achieve our common victory. All the resources of the global Ukrainian community are focused on supporting the Defense Forces, expanding sanctions against the aggressor, transferring frozen Russian assets, and accelerating Ukraine’s accession to the EU and NATO. We continue to defend Ukrainian identity around the world and are doing everything we can to build a strong and successful Ukraine,” Grod said.
The parties agreed to develop cooperation across a wide range of areas. These include protecting Ukraine from the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, strengthening the country’s defense capabilities, particularly its air and missile defense, and securing international military assistance.
The memorandum also provides for cooperation on the confiscation of frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine and further strengthening sanctions pressure on Russia.
Particular attention is given to humanitarian issues, including the return to Ukraine of Ukrainian children illegally deported and forcibly transferred by Russia, as well as civilian hostages and prisoners of war, and countering Russian disinformation and propaganda.
Euro-Atlantic integration is a major focus of the document. The parties agreed to support Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and NATO, secure international assistance for the country’s reconstruction, and promote the reintegration and rehabilitation of war veterans. The memorandum also covers preserving Ukrainian identity and developing ties with the global Ukrainian community in the areas of education, culture, youth policy, and media.
The agreement enters into force on the date of signing and will remain in effect for two years, with automatic renewal. It may be amended by written agreement between the parties.
Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi thanked the UWC for its consistent support for Ukraine, advocacy for its interests around the world, and support for the Defense Forces.
“Today, we signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Government of Ukraine and the Ukrainian World Congress. We count on active support for Ukraine’s European integration and advocacy for accelerating its accession to the EU in EU member states,” Koretskyi said.
According to him, another area of cooperation is preserving Ukrainian identity, supporting Ukrainian culture, and strengthening work with Ukrainian communities and young people abroad.
“Thank you for the partnership. I look forward to close cooperation toward our common goal – a strong and successful Ukraine,” the prime minister said.
