Thirty percent of the Ukrainian territory is mined as of now, Serhiy Kruk, the head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, said on Friday. “In terms of scale, this is like two territories of the state of Austria,” he said, according to the website of the State Emergency Service.
According to him, the area and volumes of mining in the territory of Ukraine have increased 10 times compared to the period before the full-scale Russian aggression.
In particular, more than 8,000 square kilometers are subject to demining in Kherson and Mykolaiv Oblasts, of which about 7,000 are in the territory of Kherson Oblast.
He also added that it will take several months to restore a normal life in the Kherson region.
